Taxes

We need to continue to support the Governor’s stand of no new tax increases. The Democrats have already stated that the legislature needs to increase taxes to pay for their “utopia”. Raising taxes would be the worst thing we could do for the citizens of Nevada. During these tough economic times we need to keep as much in the pockets of the taxpayers as possible.

Youth Services

We need to reform oversight of youth services being offered by state, counties and cities. In the past few years there has been an increase in the number of children that have either fallen between the cracks or have been poorly served by professionals that sadly failed in their responsibilities to safe guard and care for youngsters in their charge.

Education

The problem with education in Clark County is not with the teachers we employ but rather the overwhelming amount of high paid administrators and vast amounts of wasteful spending. This is money that never makes it to the classroom where it is desperately needed.

Before we continue to write blank checks to the Clark County School District they need to be accountable for what they have. The Clark County School District consistently screams for more taxes to pay for increased salaries; however, they are very silent when it comes to accountability for what they are currently spending. If the school district had to account for its spending it would be forced to be less wasteful and would be able to put more money directly in to the classrooms where it belongs. We all want quality education for our children and high quality educators, but the school district has failed to provide leadership in this area.
